This weeks question!
WHAT IS THE BOOK THAT YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT TO LOVING??
Wow, that is a very tough question. There is actually not a single book, that I can think of right now, that I have not admitted to loving. I like a book I recommend it to the people that will look like they would enjoy that book. I will rant about it online and in person endlessly, until another good books comes up. Maybe the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer is hard to admit liking among so many people because after the movie you saw nothing but parody's about Twilight (which where hilarious) but they made the book seem ridiculous. But I really though it was a pretty good book.
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Sorry for the lack of posts this week guys, school has been a little intense lately. I will make it up to you, promise!
Cover Love: It totally matches with the story. It is perfect for it. Just read it and you will see what I mean.
Age Recommendation: This book contains nothing a 13 year old hasn't hear or seen already. Nothing bad in it except some ghosts and other things that give my the chills when I read about it...
Summary on Goodreads:
Sixteen-year-old Yara Silva has always known that ghosts walk alongside the living. Her grandma, like the other females in her family, is a Waker, someone who can see and communicate with ghosts. Yara grew up watching her grandmother taunted and scorned for this unusual ability and doesn't want that to be her future. She has been dreading the day when she too would see ghosts, and is relieved that the usually dominant Waker gene seems to have skipped her, letting her live a normal teenage life. However, all that changes for Yara on her first day at her elite boarding school when she discovers the gene was only lying dormant. She witnesses a dark mist attack Brent, a handsome fellow student, and rushes to his rescue. Her act of heroism draws the mist's attention, and the dark spirit begins stalking her. Yara finds herself entrenched in a sixty-year-old curse that haunts the school, threatening not only her life, but the lives of her closest friends as well. Yara soon realizes that the past she was trying to put behind her isn't going to go quietly.
My thoughts:
I received this book a while ago, I think it was about the time my last baby was stolen (this is what I call all of my lovely electronic appliances). It was this book(among the many) that kept me company during my times of utter laptop-deprived misery. One thing about this book is that so many things happen that if you skip even one line, you will be lost. So read it carefully, not when you are sleep deprived or heavily medicated. Just don't do it, trust me. Or when you are in one of your classes, because the teacher will not stop her lecture just so you can have a quiet moment to read. Yeah I had to take it to school because I really wanted to know what was gonna happen. Lani keeps everything such a mystery that you will be thinking about what is going to happen even when you are not reading it.
From the beginning of this book until the end, there is action. I don't think there was ever a time where I though "Just get to the good part already!". One thing I like to do with books, just like movies, it to predict whats gonna happen.
But I couldn't with this book, I just couldn't. The story unfolds beautifully throughout the book.
So okay the story plot was great. Unpredictable and exciting. Now let's talk about the characters. Yara, love the name by the way, is the main character of the story. She is one of those characters who change thought the story, her feelings toward what her family changes dramatically when she is forced to face the things that make her appreciate and understand her family a little bit more. Maybe her short temper, which is often directed at Brent, might look bad to other people. But me, being the short tempered person that I am (though I would never throw a book at you) understand her completely.
So my general likeness of the book might have to do with the fact that I can relate with the character but trust me, you will love Yara too. She is not one chick you wanna mess with. Cherie, Yara's best friend, might seem a little annoying and pushy at times, but I know where she is coming from, she is just trying to be a good friend to Yara. But I gotta give it to the girl, when it comes to weird things she can handle anything.
And I am gonna dedicate this whole paragraph to Brent. I love Brent. He is cocky , funny, charming, and humble all into one extremely good-looking guy. Though I found it a little strange that in the beginning when Yara began to gain her full powers, he didn't seem weirded by it at all. But then I figure it out, because Brent has secrets of his own. Brent and Yara have such funny and adorable conversations throughout the book. But throughout their whole little conversations I found myself thinking "Just kiss already!". But Lani made us wait for it, and it was pretty worth it. They are an adorable kick-ass couple, a great combination of supernatural couples.
Intrinsical is a mystery, romance, and sometimes comedic paranormal story rolled into one.
Butterfly time! For those of you who don't want to read my rambling at the top. Sorry!
Random Quote:
I chucked my five-pound calculus book at him. It soared through the air and clocked him right in the temple. There was a loud thud of the book making contact with his cranium, and then a clatter as the book bounced off the table and landed on the floor. It was probably the most effective and satisfying use the book would get all year.
I've been an avid reader since elementary school . In sixth grade I began writing stories and recruiting (with force when necessary) my friends to act them out. I've always loved scary stories, and have a hard time enjoying any book without at least a little romance in it.

This Weeks Question: Q. Inspired by the inane twitter trend of #100FACTSABOUTME, GIVE US FIVE BOOK RELATED SILLY FACTS ABOUT YOU. A:
I have Book OCD. I cannot see a stain, crease, or flaw on a book or I freak out. My pages must NOT be bent. Sometimes it happens, that is okay.
I just got a NOOK and I am putting books in there like crazy. As if I didn't have enough books to be read on my bookshelves.
There always has to be a little romance between the main character and some hottie in the books I read. I like it better if the romance is a sub-plot, not the main thing. Weak and needy girl characters are a big no no. *cough* Bella *cough*
I prefer buying books over shoes. That is no very girl-like of me, I know.
Any type of books is fine with me as long as its YA. And the summary catches my attention.
While Varen remains a prisoner in the dream-world, Isobel is haunted by his memory. He appears to her in her dreams and soon, even in her waking life. But is she just imagining it? Isobel knows she must find a way back to Varen. She makes plans to go to Baltimore. There, she confronts the figure known throughout the world as the Poe Toaster—the same dark man who once appeared to Isobel in her dreams, calling himself "Reynolds."
Isobel succeeds in interrupting the Toaster's ritual and, in doing so, discovers a way to return to the dream-world. Soon, she finds herself swept up in a realm which not only holds remnants of Poe's presence, but has also now taken on the characteristics of Varen's innermost self. It is a dark world comprised of fear, terror, and anger.
When Isobel once more encounters Varen, she finds him changed. With his mind poisoned by the dream world, he becomes a malevolent force, bent on destroying all—even himself. Now Isobel must face a new adversary, one who also happens to be her greatest love.
I am freaking out! I CANNOT wait for this book to come out to find out what is next for Varen (*sigh*) and Isobel. January 2012, why do you have to be so far, far away?!
Hang On Guys, Its Almost Friday! Well not really.....
Age Recommendation: There was some language and some romance scenes but nothing very intense.
Cover Love: Have you seen this cover, I mean look at it! *holds book right in your face* Its awesome!

Summaryfrom Goodreads.com:
This debut, the first novel in a trilogy, is achingly romantic, terrifying, and filled with blistering action.

Now that Ellie's powers have been awakened, a powerful reaper called Bastian has come forward to challenge her. He has employed a fierce assassin to eliminate her - an assassin who has already killed her once.
While balancing her dwindling social life and reaper-hunting duties, she and Will discover Bastian is searching for a dormant creature believed to be a true soul reaper. Bastian plans to use this weapon to ignite the End of Days and to destroy Ellie's soul, ending her rebirth cycle forever. Now, she must face an army of Bastian's most frightening reapers, prevent the soul reaper from consuming her soul, and uncover the secrets of her past lives - including truths that may be too frightening to remember.
My thoughts:
I try not to have any expectations for any book I am anticipating. But secretly, I always do. And this particular book had very high expectations based on all of the buzz going around. I am happy to report that those expectations were met, and sometimes they were over exceeded.
In the beginning of Angelfire, Ellie was just like any other average teenager, until she meets Will. Then her whole life is changed, she is now a kick-butt grim hunter with a hot immortal guy fighting alongside her.
The fighting scenes are awesomely
written and it has just the right amount of details that
I can picture it perfectly and without any confusion. And trust me there are plenty of awesome fight scenes throughout the book. For those of you romantics out there there are plenty of kissing scenes too (those were my favorite!), three words: root-beer kiss! *melts*
Will, oh my, Will was an amazing character and I will admit I might have a very small(make that huge) crush on him. So small that I have his picture as my desktop wallpaper *coughs*.
I mean who wouldn't put that piece of eye candy on their desktop wallpaper?! I know *sigh* I am obsessed with a cartoon, but can you really blame me?
*back to the review now*
The dialogue between Will and Ellie is pretty much hilarious and touching at times. Heck, a lot of the dialogue was down right hilarious. The only reason I didn't stay up late to read this book was that school was on the way! Otherwise I would've spend half the night reading it, and with a massive book hangover the next day but It would've been worth it.
And the romantic moments between Ellie and Will are just a intense as the fighting scenes. The forbidden romance between the two of them makes the scenes even more powerful. Who doesn't love a forbidden romance?
I will conclude with the ending of this first installment. I just gotta say that I didn't see it coming, I cannot wait to see how that twist develops on the second book!
In conclusion, this is a great new Debut by awesome author Courtney Allison Moulton. If you like hot warrior immortals, a good plot, and a little bit of romance (and root-beer kisses) on your books, then don't miss out on reading Angelfire.
Sorry about my over obsession with Will, but he is truly an amazing character (along with Ellie) and I cannot wait to read about both of them in the near future!
Butterflies?

This Week's Question:
How did you come up with your blog name?
I don't really remember initially it was supposed to be called "Book Candy Shop" but then I thought it was kind of cheesy. So I went with a more deep and personal approach. To some people books are just books. To me, they are different little adventures I take everyday without having to leave my house, or wherever I am at. They are more than just pages, they take you places and make you laugh, angry, and sometimes they have a strong impact on you and they make you cry. So I figured why not? Books are more than just books...in a way.
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine where blogger share what book they are pinning over this week, and we cannot wait for!
Once you've been chosen, what step can you take...?
Seventeen-year-old Sara's dream of becoming a star ballerina is challenged when she falls for Remington, an older choreographer. Instead of success onstage, she becomes Rem's muse, which is a future she never considered--and one that threatens to break her heart.
This book sounds amazing! I cannot wait to read it. What do you guys think?

Question of ze week:
Q. Just like Ashley said (love it) "Ashley the girl..." who are You the Boy/Girl, instead of You the Blogger?
I am Alex, the girl. I read when I am not blogging and I blog when I am not reading. I am an awkward looking 16 year old, all elbows and knees. I am a sophomore in High School. In college I want to major in either publishing or computer engineering, with a photography class wedged in there. I suck at math but somehow end up pulling good grades, same with Chemistry. I love literature so English is easy for me. I love watching movies in my PJs and pigging out while at it. I love interacting with people that love books. And if anyone random asks about the Hunger Games or any book I love, even if they are not talking to me, I jump right into the conversation. Even though I am very shy. And as you can see I have the tendency to babble about the weirdest things. Oh did I mention I have a weird obsession with Michigan, yes the state! I have never been, but I want to!
The year is 2032, sixteen years after a deadly virus—and the vaccine intended to protect against it—wiped out most of the earth’s population. Wildlife has grown over once recognizable landmarks, and the New America is ruled by a controlling King who will stop at nothing to rebuild the nation—including enslaving its boys and turning its girls into broodmares.
The Eve Trilogy is a breathlessly told story with an unforgettable heroine. Anna Carey has imagined a remarkable and unique world, and brings a compelling new voice to the dystopian genre. Eve offers a haunting glimpse of the global pandemic some scientists say is inevitable, and a world forever altered by its aftermath. Fans of Twilight and The Hunger Games will revel in this epic story of forbidden love, and an unforgettable heroine’s extraordinary adventure.
Ohh another dystopian! One of my favorite genres right now. Cannot wait!
You know who's book birthday it is?Holly Schindler's new book Playing Hurt! I have been dying to read this book, I have heard so many great things about it. Holly's previous book A BLUE SO DARK was a great read and I would recommend it to all you guys! Trust me you won't regret it, and while you're at it, pick up Playing Hurt, which (did I say this already?) was released today! I haven't read it yet, and I never like to recommend books that I haven't read yet, but I know Holly will not disappoint with this new book.
Isn't it a pretty cover. Simple and cute!
